its been raining... n rain sucks. but it doesnt get as heavy in singapore. but its the irritating kinda rain, like it comes small but high frequency. n all my jackets has no hood. and the water doesnt dry up, coz of the different weather conditions here. so now my shoes get wet, apparently, it isnt really water proof, so my socks get wet, and then my toes get wet. and wet means, it feels colder, coz of the higher humidity, and the water causes u to lose heat due to the latent heat of vapourisation (ming, if u are reading this, correct me if im wrong, hahahahah). been studying thermodynamics la.... hahaha.... so rain sucks.
today there was a singapore society gathering for freshies (me freshie), it was not bad, fun. meet other ppl, not from sg though, met most of them already.there were many ppl from other countries like china, hong kong, india (yes, 1 guy), quite a number of nepalese, and 1 french girl (?). not only from newcastle uni, but also from northumbria uni too. interesting right?
after that ended up at a pub for the england poland match (which england won), went home after the first half to find my flatmates watching it in the living room. watching an england match feels different in england (of coz), my flatmate was saying england this and that, he'll go 'we could have... we shd have won tat match... we..' its we for them. never heard it like that. u noe wat i mean?
so anyways, was blog reading. was reading abt ppl shopping, buying this and that, basically spending money on this n that, going out n stuff. im seeing ppl like spending so freely, buying more expensive stuff. while here im like looking for places that have cheaper stuff, where do they sell cheaper chinese foodstuff? where got cheaper clothes/winterwear? cheap chickens? cheap vegs? cheap beer? cheap watever. i noe guys that goes to the com labs to steal a4 paper, as paper can be ex here. or even toilet paper! so as a student here, its all abt being cheap! which is y u need to be good at cooking, so u dun pay for meals outside, which is ex la.
whereas in sg, u guys are like spending freely, shopping (like my sister) to doll up urself, going go to restuarants to eat (i miss jap food....), going for nice drinks like martini and stuff. or driving in their cars and complaining abt petrol prices (in uk is more ex too, and disel n petrol is abt the same price too) but too bad for chew, he has to take the bus now. from 2 fast 2 stupid, now 2 slow 2 public.
got a friend called chew, crashed his mom's car, coz he likes to speed and thinks he is jay chou, drift here drift there, drift until off the curb. sad sia chew... u suck man chew.
so as i was saying, its all these luxuries i had in sg that i miss, now im degraded to just being cheap. but not to the extend of eating kebab n chips, had it once to accompany a friend. it sucks la... the kebab here really cheat money one, unlike in sg, where it is more ex than ur normal chicken rice. my friend thought it tasted nice, plus there was a lot of kebab and chips, a cost only 1.20 pounds (which is cheap, if u dun convert). he was so happy that it was cheap, and thought of having it more often. i didnt want to tell him the story abt it until another time to avoid killing his appetite. so the story is, kebab, or more specifically Donner Kebab, looks like normal meat, but its processed meat, so u wont see the layers of meat on that big skewer, just one big chunk of 'meat'. wat is it made of? wat eva these i dunno from where people can find, like the stuff u WONT eat, which would be the insides of dunno wat animal, heart lungs liver ears (?) or wat ever, and also stale bread or wateva part of the bread not used, so there is very little percentage of wat WE can call MEAT. no kebabs for me man... no way... i shd remind myself to educate those poor cheapos. hahaha... remind me... i forget...
so, was shopping that day, so many things, but lookin at the prices, didnt want to buy, but in sg, its like a diff case isnt it? like i was looking at this nike jacket/jumper looks nice, see the price dun feel like buying already. im cheap.... sigh... but i had a gd buy, this nice jacket for 17.50 pounds. nowadays must look at jackets already. wat u wear inside doesnt matter, coz ppl usually only see ur jackets instead. that applies more in winter though.
so in newcastle, its quite cold now. but u dun see everyone in a standard 'thickness' of clothing. some 'garang' ppl go out only in their t-shirts, or spaghetti or short skirts. and others in thick jackets, or scrafs or even gloves. so there is a WIDE range of wat ppl wear. even it has been raining for past few days (not non stop la) ppl still go out or to skool in only 1 layer. amazing leah. so guys in many many layers, especially the africans (hahahahah). for me im ok, i go in a t-shirt n a not thick windbreaker (my puma windbreaker u have been seeing in the pics). so at night sometimes i will shiver, like tonight.
so right, we were at a pub tonight, and a few of us left after the 1st half, and when we stepped out, we saw guys in only boxers or briefs or some fancy thing to cover their ass, and running ard! some even without shoes! dunno which club or grp of ppl were having some event of running ard in their underwear! amazing right? we walked past the student union, and there were quite a number of ppl cheering them on, and pouring beer on them! damn cool leah. idiots running ard in their underwear. n remember, i was feeling cold in a jacket. tats newcastle.... haha
oh, i've signed up for caporeia class (a brazillian martial art, if i've got the right spelling too) and it starts tom! after skool. cost me 16 pounds for 10 lessons. not to ex la. wish me luck. hope i dun break any bones or tear any muscles.
