so sunday, we had a so-called singapore society tradition to bring the freshies to tynemouth n sunderland. ok, u noe the the river tyne that newcastle upon tyne is upon (lame right?), that river goes to the sea, and at the point it opens up to the sea, is called, tynemouth. giving a geographical lesson here.
and i forgot to wear more clothes since we were going to the sea. damn. it was cold, n windy there.
the first thing we saw was the tynemouth flea market at the train station, which was interesting. they had an army section, where u can find nazi badges n belt buckles and other old army stuff, navy stuff, even live rounds, probably from world war 2.
after that we made our way down to the tynemouth itself, was really nice to see the sea. there was this old castle there, like rotting also la. but still looks nice, like some ancient site. wait for pics... there is also this huge monument of some guy. there is also a light house, but we didnt go, also coz it was a long walk. but we apparently had a schedule to keep to(how weird is that?).
we den had fish n chips, it was a must, suppose to be the best fish n chips in the north east maybe. the fish was huge anyway, they had normal size fish (cod or haddock, unless u like lemon sole), king size, and adult small size. i had the adult small one, not really a big eater la, but i had trouble finishing it too. as for the others with the kingsize ones, good job, i can see u getting fatter already. the english style of eating fish n chips is usually, just fish n chips, nothing else, anything else means must pay la, like salad or even tartar sauce, the chips goes with salt and check this out, vinegar! yup, thats english style my friends. no ketchup (actually must pay la), no chili sauce. but surprisingly nice leah. i put a bit enough, the english whack on the vinegar man. siao...
den we took a boat from north shields, to south shields which is crossing another river called Wear, very short ride, very long wait. nothing much there. took the metro down to sunderland, which is a smaller n lousier version of newcastle city center.
